4.0 out of 5 stars We had a good laugh. After that, January 25, 2015
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I bought these for my family for a trip to Turks and Caicos. My wife and I put the fins on and found them to very uncomfortable (chafing our ankles and toes). Soon we figured out they are shipped with a semi rigid insert that needs to be removed and thrown away before using them. Of course they don't come with instructions or any literature so we just put them on. We had a good laugh. After that, they worked great. I compared them to some US Divers that our guide let us borrow. The US divers fins were 4 inches longer which made a small difference in speed but they weren't as comfortable. My 20 year old son thought the US Divers brand was worse and didn't notice the speed difference. Also, when we first used them we noticed the goggles seemed to fog a lot. I asked a dive shop if they had defog juice. They asked if the goggles were new. I said yes and was told that new goggles fog a lot and need to be cleaned with toothpaste first to remove the deposits from the manufacturing... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Good for atrip to the islands! (Be sure to remove the fin inserts!), January 2, 2015

I bought eight of these sets in varying sizes and colors for a family vacation to the Bahamas.

The upsides:
1) These saved us a lot of money and time that we didn't have to spend on renting snorkeling gear. (Daily rental rates = $25/day).
2) We enjoyed the freedom to each have our own set and to go snorkeling whenever we wanted. They allowed us to snorkel right off our beach whenever we wanted.
3) We bought them in different colors so everyone in our group could easily identify their set just by the color.
4) We liked using the mesh bags to collect seashells while we snorkeled.

The downsides:
1) The visibility on the periphery of the masks was somewhat obstructed by the mask's construction.
2) The fins came with plastic inserts that we did not know to remove until someone told us to remove them. Thus, I snorkeled for two days with the plastic inserts and tore the skin on my big toes and one other toe that are still healing days... Read more

1.0 out of 5 stars Fins are TERRIBLE, May 2, 2015
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I purchased this snorkel set based on past reviews, however my own personal experience with this was lousy. They were bought for a trip to Maui and on the first day of my vacation I went out into the water and when I came back to shore I noticed my one fin had cracked in half (see photos). Now I'm pretty average in size for an adult male, 6 ft., 185 pounds, swimming in calm waters (look at the background of the photos). All I can summarize is that these are more plastic than rubber and for that reason not as flexible as an all rubber fin. Needless to say that was all the snorkeling I did on my trip since I wasn't about to pay Maui prices for a new set of fins.
